Hello --

I rarely open Vegas tracks by double-clicking on .veg
files, but I tried it today and was saddened to receive the
following error:

Anyone else having this problem?

Any help appreciated.

Thanks,

This is a floating point error.

What type of fx are in this project (if any?)

I take it that loading through the Open dialog does not produce the
error?

You are right about opening a .veg file using Vegas' "Open" dialog --
that works just fine. I only get the error when attempting to open
a .veg file by double-clicking it in Windows Explorer.

I get the error even when attempting to open a project that has no
effects, so I doubt that has any bearing on the error message. But,
just in case, here's the error I get when attempting to open a .veg
file I created as a 16-track recording template (no sound files or
effects, just 16 tracks enabled to record each of my 16 inputs):

VEGAS caused an exception 10H in module VEGAS.EXE at 014f:0043993f.
Registers:
EAX=00003820 CS=014f EIP=0043993f EFLGS=00010246
EBX=02154888 SS=0157 ESP=00aef3bc EBP=00001946
ECX=00b04240 DS=0157 ESI=02154888 FS=320f
EDX=ffffffff ES=0157 EDI=00aef65c GS=0000
Bytes at CS:EIP:
db 05 9c c6 51 00 de d9 df e0 f6 c4 41 0f 84 48
Stack dump:

00000000 00000000

I don't feel like this is a *huge* issue (I can just avoid
opening .veg files from Explorer this way), but it does make me
wonder if it's my system or the software at fault. If it is the
software at fault, your team would obviously want to correct this!

Thanks for your help,
Carl

An important thing I just noticed -- if I have Vegas open (no project
files loaded) and *then* I open a .veg file by double-clicking it in
Explorer, it opens just fine (it opens in a seperate instance of
Vegas, not the one that's already open). The only time I get the
error is when Vegas is not open already.

Interesting,
Carl

You get this by opening in Windows' Explorer, not Vega's Explorer
view....

Hmmmm. This is different. Will get back to you.

Nevermind! Apparently, my registry was corrupted. I used Norton
WinDoctor to fix my registry and now I can open .veg files from
Windows Explorer without errors. Sorry to bother you with this!

Thanks anyway,
Carl
