I'm glad you're interested in this suggestion. I know Vegasaur uses the UI library of DevExpress for development. I don't know whether the primitive C#/.NET can do it. Look forward to some hints from JetDV.

If you want each item to just be a button without the text, you just need to redesign the screen so that it's a toolbar instead of a bunch of options. Of course, you'll need really good icons to remember what each button does (and tool-tips will help as well).

A problem with DevExpress for the single developer is the subscription just for Winforms is $1000 a year. Certainly, C#/.NET can do it using Visual Studio. You can easily clone the look of Vegasaur.

This is exactly what the free toolbars do in HOS. They are dockable extensions that permit the user to add his own scripts or actions in addition to any that might be included as part of HOS. Here's an example of one that I routinely use, supporting up to 100 script actions that sits right below the preview window.

And another showing the controls that are hidden and all spaces available for adding a new action. In my opinion, use of tooltips as shown is absolutely necessary.
