Just choose Configure and Pass 2 after Pass 1 is finished, and the video will be stabilized whenever you render the project / clip.

Edit: you can also view the stabilized video when you play the timeline.

... or just render it if you want to save the deshaken clip for later. When you render an analyzed clip it does the Deshaker Pass 2 automatically... at least om my machine ...

Nice Idea! Cool plugin!

But I can not get this Fx plug-in work properly on all sort of files.
Seems to work well on DV, and interlaced material
But with 5d2 movs i have some problems: the first pass stops every time with every clip on the same frame (Number 10)
the same with converted cineform files(1280x720,25p): the first pass does not even start.....
when i trim the event at beginning, and switch to interlaced in deshaker settings, the first pass starts. after switching back to progressive, i was sometimes able to do the first pass.....
no problems with the same files in vdub
the same on my both systems xp x64 and Win7 64bit, Vegas 9.0c 32 bit

another thing: if you switch to another application during the first pass - the analyzing process is paused, and continues if you switch back to vegas

Well, I thought I had a keeper with this filter. But, as others have said, I cannot get it to work properly. I am trying to deshake some 640x480 progressive video shot with a digital still camera. After setting project properties for the events and setting Pass 1 to match, I run analyze and it stops every time on the 11th frame in each event I have tried it on. One time it crashed Vegas. BTW, I'm running Vegas 9.0c 32 bit on a Q6600 quad core with Window 7-64. Has anyone had success using this filter?

I haven't tried the plug-in, so I don't want to knock it -- perhaps it is wonderful. However, I can tell you for certain that the Deshaker script written by ASC Design works amazingly well, and gives you the deshaken footage as a take on each event so that you can A/B the before and after.

I highly recommend it.

Nice front end, for those it it makes sense with. But I don't get Takes to compare. So, sorry lads, back to Mercalli and the JM script for me.

John,
Google and Bing don't help me find ASC Design. What the URL?

Google and Bing don't help me find ASC Design. What the URL? It's the name of his design company, but I guess he doesn't maintain a web site under that name. Click on this link to find the fantastic DLL script version of Deshaker:

Deshaker Script DLL

Given the nature of how deshaker works, I actually think that a script is a better interface to the technology than an fX.

Now if someone would resurrect that intriguing work Satish did years ago with Wax, where you could, through Wax, load almost any VirtualDub filter ("fX" in Vegas paralance). It actually did work (still does actually), but is too flaky for everyday use. If you've ever seen the endless and wonderful list of VirtualDub filters -- available for free -- you'd see why I think this would be a great tool. Mike Crash has ported a few of these directly to the Vegas interface, and that is great, but it is only a taste of what is available.

But I digress.

Enjoy the Deshaker DLL script!

John? Will this "Deshaker DLL script" work happily alongside your, JM, original Deshake script?

Will this "Deshaker DLL script" work happily alongside your, JM, original Deshake script?Throw out my script; Andy's professional DLL version is better than mine in every possible way, and the differences are not small or subtle. I can't believe you are still using my script, especially after all the posts last spring about Andy's DLL.

With his DLL, you get complete access to every single Deshaker setting via a dialog that looks identical to the Deshaker dialog. You can then store presets for each group of settings you want to use for different circumstances. Andy added pop-up help for each of the sometimes confusing Deshaker controls, something not available even when using the native Deshaker plugin with Virtualdub. And, it is a professional DLL version of a script, meaning that it cannot be accidentally screwed up or altered.

As Andy said in the "readme" file that accompanies his script, he started by taking my "to do" list (things I couldn't get to when I did my update of the original work by someone else), and not only did every one of those things, but far more.

I cannot think of one single reason to continue to use my script. Not one.

Oh, I know . . fear of the unknown and an inability to make sure I wouldn't foul-up? Could be that?

I'll take your comments as reassurance that I wont make an error setting up - yes?

John, installed and working - GRAZIE-PROOF-ed!

Oh my eye that is very professional indeed . . .

I just needed a well aimed kick-up the fundamental.

Cheers

John,
Thanks. It appears to be working. Just a note to folks running Windows 7 and Vegas 9, you will have to install Virtual Dub and Deshaker manually so choose the .zip file. Also, unless you have Vegas 8 installed as well and just want the script installed there, you will need to change the location of the DLL to the Vegas 9 scripts folder. The default locations for VD and Deshaker will have to be changed using the Browse feature so Deshaker can find VD.

Guy, could you be more specific? Where should we install / place the various files in Windows 7? (I’m going to install Win7 next week.)

It depends on whether you are installing Win 7 32 or 64. I have 64. You will need to install VD and Dehaker in the Program Files (x86)\VirtualDub folder. Just create the folder and unpack the ZIP files there. When you run the Deshaker MSI file, change the location from Vegas Pro 8.0 to Vegas Pro 9.0. The VD .exe and the MSI files will work on Win 7 32. You will have to run the .exe as administrator. You will also have to change the script folder as above.
