What is happening when you choose the wizzard Make Movie/Save it to my harddrive?

bgb wrote on 4/3/2017, 9:06 AM

as soon as I click "advanced options" the same crash window appears.

Cornico wrote on 4/3/2017, 9:19 AM

Do you get a message on/after the crash?
Is it also happening at different project properties?
What f.i. as you choose for a NTSC or PAL DV project?

Sorry, with that message I can't help you any further.
Maybe someone else?

For Magix help report it here

bgb wrote on 4/3/2017, 10:17 AM

OK thanks I have since sent them a request but Movie Studio 14 is not listed as one of the products you can request the support. It does not create a feeling of confidence in the new owners of the software.

Sorry, I gave you the wrong link.
Try this one: https://support2.magix.com/customer/nl/vegas/form

There is a Youtube video on fixing that exception error (Unmanaged Exception (0xe0434352) for Vegas Pro. Maybe worth a look. It fixed it for some but not all.

These troubleshooting tips for Vegas Pro also apply to Movie Studio and might be worth a try: https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/faq-how-can-i-stop-vegas-pro-hanging-during-rendering--104786/

Thanks Nick, I used a form on a link that Magix sent in an e-mail but as there was no Movie Studio 14 to select I selected the next best thing, I will see if they reply, otherwise I will us the form on the link you sent.

As for the faq thats not really my problem, I dont even get the chance to render anything but there are many things there I did try but unfortunately nothing helped.

I did find someone with the same problem but this was on Windows 7 with a Sony version of Studio. What was pointed out was that the "Render As" dialogue is a .NET application and it could be the .NET installation that was the culprit. Unfortunately that is all integrated into Windows 10 I understand, maybe something hanging over from then though? I will wait to see what Magix has to say.

As I created the thread I think I ought to close it as resolved. KasterJ360 seems to have hijacked it and talking about VP14 and not MS14. The trouble-shooting guide refereed to VP I know but was no help. I spent the past 2 weeks trouble shooting with Magix support and cracked it yesterday. There were some files in the Sony Appdata users folder that were not removed when uninstalling a previous Sony product. For some reason MS14 was reading this and that crashed the Render As box. Another thing I established was that the Render As box is NOT a .NET 3.5 application as it works on Windows 10 when .NET 3.5 is not installed.

My problem has now been resolved.

980ti and its on the latest driver 381.65

Try rolling back to 376.33 or 372.90. This thread is worth a read as he had the same GPU as you, although it was before the recent Windows 10 version 1703 update. I would use this to uninstall: http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html

..There were some files in the Sony Appdata users folder that were not removed when uninstalling a previous Sony product...

Do you know what those files were? I would like to add this as a point to the troubleshooting thread, but would like to be as specific as possible.

Nick, this was the folder that caused the problems:

C:\Users\****\AppData\Roaming\Sony\File Templates

I am not sure what Sony product it was but they date from 2011, it could have been an early trial version of Vegas as I first purchased Movie Studio in 2012.

Thanks. I don't even have a folder by that name, despite having many Sony programs installed inc. VP10, 12 and 13. I suppose that folder might be specific to Movie Studio, which I've never had installed.

Well its definitely 6-7 years old and doesn't seem to be a part of MS as it wasnt in the appdata folder on a clean install on a new account I created. But it does make you question why the latest version of MS is looking in that folder in the first place. It could even be left over from the time when Sony took over the products of Sonic Foundry.
