PCI-Express will only speed things up if you are running RAID hardware that is taking up the whole PCI bus or some hardware acceleration cards come out for Vegas. It could also speed up video card performance but that's only if Vegas really takes advantage of video card acceleration and if the AGP 8x interface is not fast enough for you (you'd need to be moving extreme amounts of video).

Only 1%? I guess there is a lot of hype involved. HD will require something to go faster though.

EVERYTHING with computer claims as far as performace contains a healthy dose of hype. Its the nature of the beast.
