I am thinking about buying a new monitor and was wondering what would be the best thing to buy..I am using a 15" now and would like something bigger.
I will be running Vegas a lot. Is there anything you could recommend. Is there anything under $250.00 that would be OK.. Or should save up and purchase something more expensive..
Thanks;
JE

A monitor can be a cheap one but the bigger screen will mean better screen layout. Your output to a TV or Monitor should have higher priority than a new PC monitor, after all its the finished productthat counts and this will give you a better view of the output footage.

Check out a local officemax. My 17inch blew out a couple months ago. I was going to buy another 17 for about $120-150, but one day at officemax that had a 19inch for $120 after rebate!

So, check out your local stores. They could have deals.

Oh, the bigger the monitor, the high max res, so the high screen space you can have. My desktop is 1600x1200.

Isn't it amusing now that LCD monitors have a foothold how the prices on large screen CRT monitors have fallen the last couple years.

I saw a new model 19 inch LCD Sony LCD at my local Micro Center for around $800, which is roughly half of what I paid for my 18 inch ViewSonic LCD just about a year ago.

I've just had two 19 inch Mitsubishi Diamond Plus 93SB's arrive yesterday for my work computer.

They are nice (came from 2x17 inch Sonys) but not as smooth and crisp as the Sonys. We've got a couple of other 19 inch Sonys here and they are nice, but were told that Sony aren't making 19inch CRTs any more. (I'm in Australia btw)

At home I use a 20 inch Samsung (which is not going to last much longer) and a 17 inch LG LCD which is fine, but I haven't seen an LCD yet that is as smooth as a CRT...

Cheers

LCDs are fine . . they give me 70% of what I want . . However, a good ole TV monitor for Previewing - subject to your PC grunt - will give that EXTRA look and see. And in this case "Seeing IS Believeing" - We are all looking for a trade-off between PC grunt and our own Creative reality - yeah? We do need to see what we are creating . . . the only way. IMHO? Preview to an analogue TV monitor. Failing that a good CRT - LCDs do an excellent job - don't expect too much and you wont be dissapointed - you may even be surprised . . . .

. . my 2 pennies worth . . .

For the Aussies DSE have some VERY cheap TVs with AVi and component in. I tell you they are really crappy BUT they sure show up anything wrong with your levels!

Expect to pay under $200!

Yeah totally agree on TV monitor - a must have

I've got two Sony PVM-1444QMs at home and here at work we have 2 Panasonic BT-H1490Ns

(ie two PC monitors and 2 TV monitors for each workstation)

I bought one of these, a corporate pull, and it works great. In fact, I have it in a box running vegas with a G450 and two 21" monitors. It really does help. This is a great deal. I know 5 others who are happy with the monitor. Check it out:

I bought the B grade, but the monitor is like new.

Bet,
