New PC-New Vegas & Old VMS

I 've been using Vegas Movie Studio + DVD Platinum for over a year and love it but when the new Vegas 7 came out, I decided to spend the money and go for the full version. There are so many things that I want to do that VMS didn't offer. My laptop died before I could install Vegas 7. After one month of trying to fix my 3 year old system, the store gave up and I'm typing this with my brand new laptop.

Here's my question. With my old laptop I would have installed Vegas 7 in a different folder then VMS . Since I'm starting with a blank system, do I need to also install VMS to keep my old projects/files? Or will Vegas 7 be able to recognize everything? (lucky for me that I made a complete backup).

I recently upgraded from VMS 6 Plat to Vegas 7 also. Vegas reads my old VMS projects with no problems. I don't think you'll need to install VMS, unless VMS had different effects than what comes with Vegas.

Thanks!
As happy as I am to have a great new laptop (and I'm very, very happy), restoring all my programs, files , plug-ins, updates, etc. is taking forever. Can't wait until I'm done!
