"Look at the "Signal Flow Diagram" topic in the Vegas's Help"

Ah, thank you. I would have expected to find it in a manual with some detailed words offering help understanding all the implications of it.

"Golly... is this making anyone else's head hurt?"

Well now that I know where to find a diagram no. But that's only me. I'm kind of used to working through this kind of stuff, I can certainly understand though why many would find all this quite daunting which is why I'm pushing the point that it could either be better implimented and/or better explained.

Dawdlle thanks for the script I often have mixed media on the time line and this could be very useful

if i run as a scipt i get this message

System.BadImageFormatException: Could not load file or assembly 'file:///C:\Program Files\Sony\Vegas Pro 9.0\Script Menu\InterlaceControl.dll' or one of its dependencies. The module was expected to contain an assembly manifest.

how would i fix this?

thanks guys

xfx, it's not a script but a plugin. What you need to do is copy the files into a folder of your choice and double-click on Register.bat. Then run Vegas Pro and it should show up in the Video FX list as Interlace Control.

Shot Dawdle got it,
thanks, this looks awesome .often I receive a mix of content from hell and end up using TMPEG to rip everything to original size and may end up using a few frames anyway
this should save a lot of time .also when you have a few instances on the timeline there is always that one weird instance that's got issues

I just figured out a new trick. That is that if you have a project and let's say you have selected a "blend fields" deinterlace, but you want to do an "interpolate" deinterlace with the Dawdle plugin on one particular clip. If you go to the clip properties you can change that clip's properties to "progressive" so that the overall deinterlace will ignore that particlular clip. Then you can put the deinterlace plugin on the clip as "Media FX" so that it works at the clip's resolution and apply whatever deinterlace you want for that particular clip.

Similar, with output VegasPro 9b necessity of shift frame for one line has disappeared (editiing various video shots with different field first)

OK, even easier: I just figured out that instead of inserting the Dawdle plugin as Media FX, you can do it as a clip effect so long as you click the little triangle on the left and make it "pre" instead of it's default "post". Same thing with the Mike Crash smart deinterlacer. With either of these deinterlacer plugins set as a "pre" effect, you can rescale the video or render to another resolution without screwing up the deinterlace.

Note: you still need to either not select a project deinterlace method, or change the media properties of the clip you want to deinterlace to "progressive" so that the deinterlace plugin is not redundant with the automatic Vegas deinterlace.

I'm having trouble registering the .dll file with my Vista computer. I followed the steps above but when I click on the register.bat file I get the message:

"The module "InterlaceContro.dll" was loaded but the call to DllRegisterServer failed with error code 0x800200009"

However, on my editing computer, which runs on good old Windows XP, I had no problem whatsoever setting up the plugin......Coincidently, I had a similar issue with Magic Bullet QickLooks, which I was able to successfully install on the XP computer but not on the Vista computer.

Windows Vista Home Premium
Service Pak 2
32 bit O.S.
Intel 2 CPU 1.80 GHz
2.00GB RAM

Hi aldo12xu
Unfortunately I don't have Vista so I can't check this out.

I understand that this is an issue to do with user permissions. You need to have administrator permissions in order to register the plugin, either by being logged in as administrator or to run the .bat file with administrator permissions.

On Windows 7, I had to put the .dll file in the C: root directory and manually run the regsrvr command from an elevated command prompt. No combination of running the .bat file would work including run as administrator.

Hello everybody, I tried to find Interlace control 1.03 (written by Dawdle) online for download, but had no luck, all links are dead now... Could anybody please send me the copy of the plugin...?

Many thanks
