Shuttle playback speed settings are only for real-time playback, they never get rendered. They are transport tools, not compositional or editing tools.

I must say, I've always wished you could somehow "automate" this tool and have it print to a track that way. I always get nice effects with this and want to record it easily.

I do this a lot.

Here's what I do:

Open two instances of Vegas. Use one as a playback device and one as a recorder. Record and twiddle. Voila-- real time recording relatively easily!

While this will work for some hardware, it is generally not.

I will also point out that the rate control is a lower quality resample. It is intended for scrubbing or shuttling the transport. It is NOT meant to produce release quality resampling.

So perhaps that means a "velocity envelope" for audio is in store?
