New Sony HDV Cameras

According to camcorderinfo.com, Sony has announced a couple of new prosumer HDV cameras (Japan only for the moment):

http://www.camcorderinfo.com/content/Sony-Releases-New-Pro-Camcorders-in-Japan--HDR-FX1000-and-HVR-Z5J-35471.htm#

3x1/3" CMOS, 20x optical, dedicated iris ring, looks like a successor (or sibling) to the FX-1.

Of course Spot has probably already jumped out of an airplane with one strapped to his head, and edited the footage with Vegas Pro 8.0c... :-)

Haven't seen the FX1000 yet. ;-)

I wonder if the Z5J is being positioned as a replacement for the Z1?

They look like they suffer the same design problem as most of the recent Sony cameras. Not enough clearance to fit a matte box easily.

This shocked me a bit as an FX1 owner. I was expecting the "FX1 Killer" to be like these new cameras except with this instead;

1.) 24 megabit AVCHD
2.) Hard drive based storage with memory stick option like an SR12.

HDV? I thought 1440x1080 was dead.

Everything else about the cam is fantastic.

Looks like they are dropping Zeiss lenses?
