As far as installing one before the other, I don't think it really matters. However, I would recommend installing both V12 and V13 since the same veg files can be opened in both versions. I found occasions some time back where specific scripts would work in one version, but not the other. Just a suggestion.

Thanks. I had read some other forum posts that mention users had experienced different levels of issues when trying to upgrade from V12 to V13. I thought it might be a good idea to just start with V13 and leave V12 completely out of the mix. Thinking there wouldn't be any "confusion" with registry entries, plugins, etc. during the upgrade...

The correct answer has nothing to do with expected interaction between Vegas versions - here is the concept you should be thinking about.

All versions of Vegas 12 had serious bugs, only which were somewhat corrected in the last available build. That build is very close to a Version 13 build.

Except that the first version of Vegas13 introduced a new flaw that was worse than all others.

Hence any of the last builds of VegasPro 13 are the closest to new and closest to perfect as far as builds go.

There is absolutely no need to carry the baggage of VegasPro 12 build.

My friend got his new system set up and did a fresh install of VP13 and he is up and running. He said the system is doing great -- full res, full frame rate playback even with Hit Film effects on the timeline! ;-)
