New Titler to test

You are not making this easy to report. Where do you want me to send this info? I've looked around your web page and couldn't spot a single mention of contact or an e-mail address. It would be helpful in you included the address in the same paragraph, Reporting Crashes.

He posted the email address in his post: beta at newblueinc.com

He formatted it this way to avoid webbots from grabbing the address for spamming...

Here are my impressions on the titler thus far. This is going to sound negative, but it's not, their just things that I want to see change or notice that I think should be improved upon if I were using this on a regular basis. It's not in any particular order, but I've asterisked some of the things that I think are a bigger issue to me. Anyway, it's late, and I've stayed up too late now fiddling :). I may post more if I get some more time with it, but please take these as things that I want to see changed so the tool can be its best ( assuming you or other customers agree enough with me on them ).

- Should be easier to add a paragraph ( I would call it something different like text block or something a little more general myself ).
- Underline does not appear to go along spaces
- Starts on parameters tab but that is a blank tab and I have to click on custom to be able to do anything at this stage of the development. This may be as a result of the beta nature of the software.
* - There doesn't appear to be any form of snapping in either rotation or movement.
* - Time indicator is not synced to Vegas Time indicator (and seems to not be able to).
- The 3D rotation control can be lost in the white cursor when the text is extruded, this can obviously make it nearly impossible to see, and can create a frustrating situation in attempting to interact with the 3D rotation control.
- When in 3D rotation mode, effects libraries did not show up for me at first, and I had to exit the rotation mode, this was only the first time though, since then while running the same instance of Vegas ( even with removing and adding a new gen titler media ), they show up regardless of the status of the text.
- Interface while rotating in 3D space, if the mouse moves out of the white circle area, it stops rotating, and then jumps to wherever the mouse re-enters the space, rather than just following the mouse's movements as long as the mouse is inside the window or something
- If I select 3D face style of texture and then try to select "environment" before selecting an environment map (texture) it jumps it back to color automatically instead of asking for a texture.
- When I select a texture, it doesn't show the preview of the texture in the window where it usually shows the color or gradient
* - There is no scaling ability for zooming in or out on the text in the actual text window.
* - There does not appear to be any sort of slow precision movement of the sliders etc... when trying to use a precise movement.
* - There is no gray background option for checking / seeing black text.
- If I add faces etc... in 2D style, I then go through and minimize them all after adding say 5 or 6. then I delete 1 of the faces or outlines or whatever, and the rest of the layers re-expand.
- The styles and effects and everything that are applied to a paragraph should be expandably accessed in the timeline section below it ( similar to Adobe FX being added in photoshop if you understand what I'm saying )
* - It doesn't seem to be able to animate (no way to do Keyframes that I can find)
- I would like to see a 2D rotation circle outside of the interface to interact with (either by the sliders or by the preview window
- I would like to see a 3D rotation ball outside of the text interface as well, that I can find by the sliders or by the preview window

All that being said, and the fact that I'm sure there's things I haven't found, I believe that this will be a good addition to Vegas when it's ready to be added, and hopefully, if it gets good enough, it could be licensed directly through Sony as a new titler.

Hi Ed - does the beta expire? Also, any ideas as to cost of the lite v pro versions when they come available? For example, how will it compare price wise to Boris Graffiti?

The beta has a watermark. Not sure on any costing information yet.

When I try to open this titler, Vegas shuts down.

Did it pop up any error messages? Did it create the log file? If yes, can you send them to the beta e-mail address listed above?

"He formatted it this way to avoid webbots from grabbing the address for spamming..."

Old wives tale. It just doesn't happen any more. Web bots are terribly inefficient when there are far more lucrative sources of addresses for spammers.

I am also waiting for the 64-bit version.
Pass it on.....

"Maybe that's true but I would have guessed that most people still use the 32-bit version of Vegas. I have no evidence either way, though. "

OK, let's find out...
