New to this...

I have never done any video editing before but have created a project file which I am quite pleased with consisting of video and stills. However, the next bit is giving me a headache as I don't understand rendering and Architect. All I want to do is burn my project onto a DVD to play on a normal widescreen TV, ratio 16:9 - what I want is that when someone puts the disc in the player it starts straight away and just plays on a continuous loop until stopped. I don't know the difference between NTSC and PAL and don't know what I'm doing!!! I hope someone can help as I have spent HOURS getting it just right!

I don't know where you're located, but...

NTSC = North America
PAL = South America/Europe/Africa/Middle East

So just choose the television format for the location you're in.

As far as burning to DVD, have you followed the wizard you're presented with when you click "Make Movie"? If you choose the option to "Burn To DVD," the list of steps to follow are relatively simple. Click "Next" and the project will begin to render to your hard drive (in the location you specified).

Once it's complete, click "Send it to DVD Architect Studio" to burn to DVD. Other than choosing NTSC or PAL and 4:3 or 16:9, the rest of the settings should be set for you. At least such that you can burn a single-movie DVD that repeats. If that is successful, you may want to go back and tweak some of the settings.

My advice: use dvd rewritable the first couple of times.
Also: some dvd players and tvs handle aspect ratio and autoplay differently. So what plays perfect on your system may not play perfect on someone elses.

Render to mpg2 using the MainConcept codec. Activate 'letterbox' to force the widescreen experience on all tv sets.

Did you tape your project in 16:9 or did you tape it at 4:3?

The camcorder recorded in 4:3 but in the project file I clicked on the crop mark thingy on each clip and selected 16:9 and lined the box up to catch the part of the frame I wanted as because of the way the footage was recorded from within a race car the top of the frame is the inside of the roof and I wanted to get rid of it anyway - is it possible to apply this to all clips as I had to do each one seperately. I did eventually manage to burn a disc yesterday but when I tried playing it on a 16:9 aspect ratio TV screen it seemed to chop the sides off and the initial menu screen is a bit odd. I am in the UK.

Where does it give me the option to burn a single-movie DVD that repeats?

You can place it as a single movie, then most DVD players have a 'loop' or 'repeat' function that you can activate.

Or

You can place your single movie as the menu background and make the end action to 'loop' (No menu - just the background)

Putting the movie in background is tricky. The limit is 1GB, so it will only work if the size of the movie is below that.
