Hi Rony, what do you mean by scratched and blurry? Can you take a screenshot? (prtscr or windows + shift + s)? You can upload it with the icon next to the smiley face here.

I assume preview quality is best/full to judge it at full resolution.

Also what's your media? https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/faq-how-to-post-mediainfo-and-vegas-pro-file-properties--104561/

Rony-Alfandary wrote on 4/8/2024, 4:15 AM

Thank you RogerS. I am using the same media as I have used prior to the update

Rony-Alfandary wrote on 4/8/2024, 4:18 AM

here is the media info page of the media

RogerS wrote on 4/8/2024, 4:20 AM

Thanks, this looks like a decoding issue with the footage.

Can you share MediaInfo for exactly what it is? Is it a screen capture or download? It's possible we could help you with better settings to edit with this version of VEGAS.

As a workaround you could go to preferences/ file io and change to "legacy AVC" which is the same as what it was in 21.208.

Rony-Alfandary wrote on 4/8/2024, 4:20 AM

I have also rendered it to check and it is the same scratchy look

RogerS wrote on 4/8/2024, 4:20 AM

For MediaInfo please highlight all the text there and just copy and paste it into the comment box here. The details matter!

Dear RogerS,

The workaround solution (changing the preferences/ file io and change to "legacy AVC") worked! thank you for this.

Is there a direct solution as well?

RogerS wrote on 4/8/2024, 4:28 AM

Thanks for this. It's fairly compressed but is just constant framerate 8-bit 1080p AVC.

Is this file from a camera?

Did enabling legacy AVC decoding help?

What is your GPU- could you share a screenshot of help/driver update in VEGAS? It will say the model and driver version.

RogerS wrote on 4/8/2024, 4:29 AM

One other thing that would help would be if you could upload a sample of the same kind of footage to see if other users have the same problem (I'm happy to test it myself). If you could upload it to Google Drive, Dropbox, etc. we can see if it works for us.

Rony-Alfandary wrote on 4/8/2024, 4:30 AM

yes, enabling legacy AVC decoding helped.

here is a screenshot of the driver.

thank you

RogerS wrote on 4/8/2024, 4:34 AM

Thanks, a RTX 3080ti with the latest studio driver- should work well. I assume that preferences/ file io has it selected for hardware decoding.

I'm not seeing issues with my NVIDIA GPUs (same driver) and my footage, so I think it must be an issue with this particular media x GPU.

[Edit: you're fast- will download and test this footage]

Great. Thank you. tell me once you have downloaded the media so I can remove from the drive

RogerS wrote on 4/8/2024, 4:46 AM

I see the same problem with my GTX 1050 laptop.
These are my settings:

To see if it helps I had ShutterEncoder reconvert it to h264. Mostly the default settings but with a GOP of 50:

It looks perfect with the default VEGAS settings.

Download it here.

You could use ShutterEncoder to batch convert all your files at once, or find better settings for the originals that work in VEGAS 21.300.

If you can leave the media up for a day others could test if they have the same problem. Up to you if you'd prefer not to share.

RogerS, here is a sample

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ZKMD2DaLDqflRkHRkxJZhu8B2PTu2zHY/view?usp=sharing

For me, the file playsback fine, with the i-GPU enabled in the new build 300. But worse, if I use my nvidia Card in the Preferences file I/O settings.

Decoding is done by gthe new mxcompoundplug.dll, what seems to have an issue here.

Machine data see my signiture.

nvidia driver on my machine: 551.61 (maybe Roger has a newer one?)

@Rony-Alfandary Just updated so haven't had much time to play, my preferences are still set as they were in the previous build.

I see the messed up image

Playing it in Magix Movie Studio shows 0 issues.

Caros amigos e suporte técnico do Vegas, acabei de atualizar o Vegas 21 e desde então todos os meus vídeos ficaram arranhados e borrados. Não mudei mais nada. Eu desinstalei e reinstalei. Por favor, ajude!

o mesmo esta acontecendo comigo

C:\Program Files\VEGAS\VEGAS Pro 21.0\FileIO Plug-Ins\mxcompoundplug

Does renaming this directory help? For example, "11111". Then restart Vegas.

Why would you recommend that? Just enable legacy AVC.

Thank you @RogerS, after I followed your initial workaround solution, all seems well so I don't think I need to convert my media. Unless I am missing something. I wonder if I need to change anything else in my settings. Thank you for your time and kind response!

RogerS wrote on 4/8/2024, 7:35 AM

Of course, happy to help. If all your media is like this clip then I think you are done.

If you use a variety of media there are benefits to the non-legacy AVC decoder so I'd consider converting it for editing.

If your camera has other settings like ALL-I, try recording a clip as that and see how it works with VEGAS and the new decoder.
