Yes. A first bugfix update would likely come anywhere from 1-3 months from release. It all depends on the severity of any reported issues and how fast MAGIX wants those fix(es) released publically. Right now we are about 1 month in.

Really needs updating urgently. Of all versions of Vegas this is the one that has the most bugs.

The first releases of VP11-14 might beg to differ! It was carnage when VP11 first came out, especially if you enabled GPU acceleration. There were hundreds of published fixes by the time it reached the final build 700.

I can't agree with that at all ... at least from VP10 onwards.

I’ve been using Vegas since 2003. Each has had its own update cycle. So, yes, this is normal.
