To be fair, I'm not entirely impartial, since I do a lot of work with these guys, but I was demo'ing this at NAB, and it's fricken awesome for anything high energy, and it also helps to randomize lots of stuff.
It is, it's pretty sweet. One thing that isn't automatically apparent is that you can slice up a clip, and not randomize the order of the slices, but then save an FX preset with a bunch of colors and randomize those, so it works as a way to randomize FX KF's (sort of) because it randomly applies your FX presets to the sliced up event(s).
That's actually not a bad plugin. Besides using Excalibur and Ultimate S, many of the other plugins/fx/transitions aren't really things I find useful. This has potential... actually a plugin that I'll be thinking about purchasing for an upcoming project.
Ya, I don't know how long the promo price is for, but generally they run it for a couple weeks, so you should have some time to test it out. One nice thing I like about the VASST plugs, is that they give the chance to make money with the tool before you buy it so you can completely justify the purchase :).
"A little MAYHEM keeps things exciting" - I like that strap line very much.
At last a simple plug that can easily make use of the SONY FXs in a sleek and slippery way. I especially enjoyed the use of "Mayhem" on the Text and its backgrounds. I can try something and smash it about, like a palette of FXs. The energised audio makes for a great narrative.
The next time I read a post asking "How do they do that?" - when relating to high energy cuts and FX-ing this will be the response: MAYHEM @ VASST!
that looks like something that I've done by hand for a while. GAH! I just bought "Monster Hunter 3" for the Wii & the wife won't let me spend another $60.
But that looks very very very handy. I could think of a million uses for that. That's on my "when I get my taxes done next year" list already. :)
Cool indeed.
Anybody ordered anything from Europe with VASST since I can only see dollars .
Do they also ship this or can one choose to get key by mail .
Not clear at all ( maybe when confirming order but then it might be too late to cancel order since shipping and customs to Europe costs more then the app ).
Nice to hear the positive responses. One day I'll share the story of how this plug came to be.
The promo vid you see isn't nearly close to what all it can do; I was asked to create something just a couple hours prior to getting on a plane for a trans-oceanic flight. This was the result of roughly 20 mins of playing with files already on my 'puter.
Applied to text, stills, video, it's a great "livener-upper" and is a super fun transitional tool as it will grab and randomize (or not) video from both selected events.
One cool thing is to drop it on static text for giggles. ] has both a single line of video (not two, so it's not transitional) and has static text at the beginning. Zoom is set to 0-100%, with one of the presets applied. This video took about 3 minutes, including the multicam (using Ultimate S multicam tool).
Fun stuff, and have found myself using it a lot. I used to do this by hand, it took forever.
Looking to see what others do with it. Presets are a lot of fun.
If you look on the product page on their website, it shows it's a download product. You just get an email and an order saved to your account, no physical anything to have to pay customs on.
Spot you guys did all the work. Thanks for the tools that make us look good.Often I get a carrot and an onion and have to cook a meal , this tool will help a lot thanks again
I take it that the footage of you flying is recent so you are jumping again? Amazing footage
I started jumping before the stitches were outta my butt and knee. Being stupid, but flying is an addiction worse than crack, or so I'm told.
Yeah, started flying a few months ago. We're in Hawaii now, setting up a couple Vegas stations for the dropzone here. mAyhEm is a pretty good tool for this market too. It fits the ADD model that skydiving seems to embue.
You're gonna love ScatterShot3D too....I can see how it will apply in the work you just showed.
Rory Cooper - could you post a ScreenGrab of your timeline?
I definitely like what Mayhem is doing. The fact that it is Automated is awesome as I tend to use a lot of Keyframes & Time to achieve this otherwise.
Seeing a timeline would help me to understand what's going on & where it's going on.
I'm trying to compare what I see in your final video vs how many layers/graphics/etc. have the effect applied.
Similar to how you did your Multiple masks Sony Vegas video
I used “using pattern” which was 4,4,4 or 4, 2,4,2 I preferred this option gave me more control and simply highlighted between markers. Some were random also checked
The bottom ball was a copy of the top which was dodge and used glow for color tint, made the glow box same size very little blur and did the mayhem on that
Same for rays which was a solid black alpha channel
I selected newsprint as fx on one and glow ,invert on another all with zoom option checked the cool thing is you can use any of your new blue and other plugs as well within this
