new VASST scripting plugin - excellent

Accolades to DSE & co for the truly excellent film looks plug in they just released. A bit wonky to install (you have to upgrade Ultimate S to version 1a but the download does not make that clear). I used it on a video I am making for my father and am very satisfied with the product. For the price of a single Cohiba or Monte #2 you get lighting fast rendering and really great looking film-like 24 P video. Keep those products coming and I'll keep buying them.

Thanks Peter, glad to hear you are liking it.
We're changing the language in the email to be sure folks know they need the 1.1a version of Ultimate S or the Celluloid plugin to install ReelPak1.
We're always open to ideas!

Because a link on the VASST FAQ's did not work to explain the difference between Celluloid and the additional film looks for Ultimate S, I went for Celluloid.

After the install, I found that all of the Filmlooks appeared in both Celluloid and Ultimate S.

I am still, a very happy chappy.

Wow, it sure is fast, eh? The Magic Bullet movies looks were free so I used them a few times when I first got V5 but rendering times were horrendous; this Reel Pack I've got seems to take just a few minutes and I haven't noticed any artifacting. Overall the UltimateS plug in certainly speeds up work flow, especially for those photo montages so many consumers commission for Christmas give aways. Add a Reel PAck film look to the tweked photo series and you get a really nice product.

Thanks Peter for the kind words (I’m part of “& Co.”). ;-)

The ReelPak should have not installed without either Ultimate S 1.1 or Celluloid installed first. It should have given a warning. Did it install for you are not complain? Or did it complain and confuse you because it wasn’t clear that you needed Ultimate S 1.1 first? I’m just trying to understand how to improve the process.

Any suggestions on how we can make the installation experience better would be greatly appreciated. I added an installation section to the User’s Guide and that updated guide is now available on the VASST web site (at the bottom of the page). I’ll be adding a ReadMe file and repackage everything today to include a setup.exe file (some people are confused with what to do with the MSI file) and we’ll get that updated on the VASST site.

The goal of the VASST Scripting tools are to make you more productive. We love getting feedback on what you’d like to see in future versions. Those of you who have made suggestions will probably notice that many of them are already in the 1.1a update. E.g., add a checkbox to turn Fade in/out on and off individually, added Events to Regions using take name as region label, updated JLCuts to use replacement wav files as takes, etc. These were all your ideas.

So please send us feed back. These are your tools and we want to make them better for you.
