I have now vegas2.0h , and I know it is an old program, but I haven't been recording for a couple of years, now I am getting ready to demo some new songs, but I am having problems with the vegas 2.0h. I installed windows xp since last I used vegas and vegs doesn't want to recognize my delta 1010 as more than a stereo input....freekin wierd really..anyway anyones input on either fixing this problem or on the new Vegas ,please pipe in..Thanks Tucker

Check your audio device settings, ussually there will be more then one on your system, and it may default to the standard windows driver which will be the first two inputs (I've had that happen before too, even using different programs and audio interfaces)

If you find it's really a Vegas problem, try the v5 demo out. I've had a delta card work fine using Vegas 3 (which I currently use)

Yeah my delta worked great before. I have disabled the other soundcard, I have went in and make all the selectable changes that vegas offers. it is odd really. I never had A problem with the vegas or delta before I installed windws xp..so I am thinking that is the problem. I looked for xp updates, but no luck.. thanks Tucker

Precisely the point I made in another post here...I spent years tweaking Vegas 2.0, Sound Forge 5.0 in my P3/1ghz/1 gig ram/dual drive/delta 44/win 98SE old box, and am afraid to screw with it. I recently thought about upgrading Vegas/SF/CD Architect, but need to upgrade windows in the process. Then, I figure it'd be silly to do this without a Y2K PC. Until I'm ready to build a new dedicated system, I'll continue pretending it's 1998...I'm getting the performance I need out of it for my purposes, despite a degree of envy seeing all the enhancements V5 has.

I'm assuming that when you say "all the selectable changes" you are referring to the routing matrix [options / preferrences / routing]. If so, then I would suggest reinstalling the Delta card. I had a problem similiar to that with Vegas 2.0 while running to Echo Layla cards. It would find one and not the other. Come to find out I didn't have the card seated properly on the mother board.

Goodluck.

Also check for the newest delta drivers. I know that they were not very refined back in the days.

Yeah a reinstall was what I was planning for today actually. I am hoping that works. But I still would like some opinions on the new Vegas..thanks

Do a search of this forum. There's several threads that go very much in-depth on Vegas 5.

Punch in and record automation is awesome -- and also real time effects automation is cool + 5.1 surround planning, finally my favorite:
low latency drivers -- I use an MAUDIO Ozone so I can have real time sampling and recording + midi control on one unit,

FM7 playing + vegas recording + mic + drum machine in one lil usb appliance.

I started on 2.0 myself and it was great! and stable!
4.0 was not so stable for me, but 5.0B has been the best version yet.

I would highly recommend that you upgrade to it.

The automation on the fly and new punch-in features alone
make it well worth it. The input monitor would make it super-sweet if it worked perfectly, unfortunately it's not too reliable.

I have been using my old 2.0 on a different computer at my day job to tinker with things, and the "look" of it was very cool...hardware looking. Vegas 5 is more of a lady-like pastel look which crept up on me subtly and i didn't even notice till i went way back to see 2.0 again. This was a gripe in older posts.

All in all, I would say, make the jump. I went into Sonar forums and even they say to go with Vegas...how's that for a recommendation!
