New Vegas 5 and DVDA 2

I was reading that Microsoft .NET framework is one of the system requirements to run the new Vegas and DVDA. I don't remember if the same thing was required by Vegas 4 and DVDA 1. Can anyone explain that?

In Vegas 4 if you wanted to use the scripting functionality you had to install .NET.

I suspect in Vegas 5 more functionality depends on .NET, automation would seem to be a good suspect.

Yeah, Net 1.1 IS required. I found that out when I went to install V5 trial on my second computer to play with net rendering.
