New Vegas + New Media Manager = Squabling!

Vegas

Now, I've done everything. Re-installed countless times, uninstalled EVERYTHING, cleaned every Sony Media Software directory. Deleted files and folders. Yet, I can never get Media Manager to work. I'm about to downgrade to Media Manager 2.1 just to get things running smoothly again. Can anyone help? Did they remove the "Do not start Media Manager" in the preferences?

I've done even more, I've tried running the services directly in the service manager, they fail there too. I just had Vegas 5 running without any issues, it seems to be Vegas 6 exclusive. In the meantime, I found the Enable Media Manager (requires restart) switch, but you can also use the following registry edit (for my 1337 friends)...
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Sony Media Software\Vegas\7.0\Metrics\Application]

## Enabled Media Manager ##
"10830"=dword:00000001

## Disabled Media Manager ##
"10830"=dword:00000000

Some clarification may help you with what to uninstall/install.

.NET 1.1 and .NET 2.0 can be installed on a PC at the same time - they aren't like DirectX where you have to pick one.

Media Manager (MM) 2.1 is based on .NET 1.1 and ships with ACID Pro 5, Vegas 6, and ACID Pro 6.

Media Manager 2.2 is based on .NET 2.0 and ships with Vegas 7. ACID Pro 6.0a knows how to use MM 2.2 if it happens to be installed on the same PC.

Both versions of the MM can be installed at the same time - they don't replace each other in Add or Remove Programs.

For ACID Pro 5 and Vegas 6 users that want to try out Vegas 7, there is an update available on the download page that will install the latest MM 2.1 so that these products use the same .medialib format as the latest MM 2.2 does. This enables you to use the same media library with ACID Pro 5, Vegas 6, and Vegas 7 as you trial (backups always recommended of course).

Both MM 2.1 and MM 2.2 use the same instance of Microsoft SQL Server Desktop Engine (MSDE) - that will only be listed in Add or Remove Programs once.

Thanks.

I just reformatted and was getting the error when re-installing V6 and AP6.
Your post telling me to get 2.1 just fixed this.

"search" tab gets me out of a jam again. :-)

Much appreciated.
