Hi, this is my first post. I just switched from Avid Liquid to Sony Vegas Pro 8 on 3/27/08. All I can say is Vegas Rocks!!! What a difference in stability and ease-of-use. I am extremely impressed with this and have already created a project. I plan on doing virtually everything in Vegas from now on. I also look forward to becoming part of this community.

Ah yes... I wondered when I was going to start seeing some familiar names over here. Liquid's a good program (it's too bad Avid is driving it into the ground) but I think this one (vegas) is better. Of course I don't think Sverk would agree :)

It has its problems like any other program of this nature, but the patches seem to come out like white lightening around here as compared to Liquid, which makes all the difference in the world. Almost a friggin' year to get that 7.2 patch out!!?? Come on... now I understand those poor gullible souls are sitting around waiting for a DX10 patch. Well.. maybe it'll come......... someday. But you have to wonder how many times a person has to bang the head against a brick before they say "ouch".

Interesting though, when the lack of a 7.2 patch forced me to download the Vegas7 trial, I worked with it for a day and then said "YUK" and went back to liquid. Then a short time after throwing AL7.1 against the wall (again).... I FORCED myself to do a whole project in Vegas. Now you wouldn't get me to switch back for a cool million (well, maybe a million but certainly not a couple of thousand). I can do a project in Vegas in about 1/2 the time it takes in Liquid, and the interface is adjustable to the N'th degree.

Don't be afraid to speculate, debate, go off on tangents or anything else of that nature here. It for sure is an editing forum (well... most days anyway) but you will not find moderators threatening to ban you for breathing the wrong way.

Allen, just by being a Vegas owner, you're a part of this community.
You'll find the folks here just as friendly as the folks on the Digital Juice forum - but there's a LOT more of us here :-)

Nearly fell off my chair when I saw your username at the head of this post. You're about the last person I ever expected to see show up here.

'Bout time...

Welcome. I personally haven't used other applications than the old Premier but Vegas has now become part of my soul. And I only know about 2/10 of what it does. You will love the blue snappers, the pink out of syncs, interface flexibility with Cinescore, Acid, and Sound forge, audio capabilities, Vista 64 bit and the huge amount of scripts available.

Why don't you post what you didn't like about Liquid and what you do like about Vegas.
This post will probably be read by other Liquid folks looking to make the jump.

First of all it's good to see some of my friends from my former life ( you know hitting your head on a brick wall, hoping that Avid/Pinnacle will tell you anything, that maybe someday they'll actually fix some of the longstanding problems). Ulf, maybe someday I'll figure out how I can use the BoB with Vegas. Probably not possible but I suppose I can always use Liquid if the need arises. I did purchase a very nice 20" TV just for previewing with the BoB.

As far as posting what I don't like about Liquid and what I do like about Vegas - I just happened to have started a list last night. After coming across so many incredible benefits in Vegas I thought, "Man, I'll never remember all this. I should write this down." I'll post that in a new thread in the next week or so.

Thank you everyone for making me feel so welcome here.

Hi Allen, how've you been? I remember you from the Pinnacle forums way back when I used Studio 7/8 (I actually started with the DC-10 and Studio 1.0). I left there long ago for Video Factory 2.0 and then upgraded to Vegas 3.0 and never looked back. I tried to pull as many of you with me when I left. I'm glad you finally made the jump.

Vegas is a breath of fresh air after that Pinnacle stuff. I still get occasional emails from people who have downloaded my free Hollywood FX transitions and want me to show them how to make more (darned if I remember how) ;-)

Welcome, my friend. You are in good company.

Johnny, I do remember you. I used some of your effects in many of my early videos. I've even used some of them recently. For the most part I don't do a lot with HFX but sometimes the need arises. It's nice to know that I'm remembered as well. Thanks for the nice welcome.
