I think a new version, Vegas Pro 9 may become available about July last year.

SCS plays it tight to the chest and doesn't hint much about new versions, but the rumor has been that Vegas Pro 9 might be available in June last Summer. I agree, we should wait for last summer and see.

Normally, I like to give the smart alec answer, but since we've got that covered already... ;-)

New releases of Vegas pretty much always (if not always) coincide with a big industry event. Generally NAB, but occasionally something else. NAB for this year has come and gone (we got a feature/bug update for Vegas Pro 9), so I'd figure on Vegas Pro 10 for coming during NAB 2011 or during some unknown (to me) event this fall. September is also a good month for such events and, if I recall correctly, the other common month for Vegas releases.

(And to my fellow smart alecs: Vegas Pro 9 was released April 20, 2009.)

I am obviously aware that 9 is available but was looking not to upgrade to version 9 if a newer version was forthcoming. bStro thanks for your informative answer. Thanks to the "smart alecs" who have nothing else to do but state the bloody obvious. I think the "smart" description is an overstatement.

Don't be too hard on them. It's Saturday night, and everyone's probably a bit loopy after a hard work week. (Right, guys?)

Well why didn't you say so. I may just get "loopy" myself. The bottom line is that the video "stuff" is a hobby for me. I love doing it. I missed a year of upgrades for whatever reason. Just looking for any insight you guys have. I did get a laugh when I read their answers. I'm a humble amateur:)) What are you all drinking?

Personally, I'm just on lack of sleep. But you haven't got a bad idea there....

ok, so lately it seems like they've been going about a year and a half from the previous release, or maybe it's just jumping between IBC and NAB, but either way, 9 was released last year at NAB, and so I'm guessing that they'll do 10 at this years IBC, whenever that is.

Thanks... I had an idea of what the other conference was called, but couldn't quite place it. IBC is Sept 14th to 19th.
