(I am used to FCP, Media 100, and Premiere, so Vegas' differences are a bit confusing). Is there anything akin to a classic "insert edit" mode in Vegas? By that I mean, is there anyway to insert a clip and automatically push everything else on down the timeline? So far all I see to do is split a track, add the new clip, and then move all of the downstream material until the head lines up with the tail of the inserted clip.

(Yikes, I don't even see terms like 'heads' and 'tails' around here. This is hard for someone with too many years of experience - even NLE experience - using very different metaphors.)
