Newbie question : Button Navigation Order

I'm currently teaching myself to use DVDA v3.0b after spending many years using an older version of DVD*Lab software.

So far the transition has gone pretty well, except for 1 thing that I can't seem to figure out.

But what is confusing me is the order that the DVD directional buttons navigates through the buttons I have placed on a menu screen. For example, I have 4 buttons on a menu - arranged vertically. When I navigate to this menu from the DVD's main menu - the first button selected is the bottom. I can hit up to get to the top, but I want it to start at the top when first entering this menu.

I also need to figure out a way to go from the bottom button, hit down, and go back up to the top instead of staying put on the bottom.

I have looked at the button properties/Navigation tab. But the pull downs don't let you indicate another button to navigate to, just movies or menus. When I select view/workspace overlays/object order - the buttons are numbered 1-4, top to bottom, so that looks right.

Any help/tips would be appreciated.

Thanks
Craig

you're going to be overjoyed when you try what I have to say.

in DVDA, go to your menu page. Now, directly to the left of the preview/editing window is the tool/alignment window. The top part is the tools. find the "navigation tool". Now click a button. And you now have arrows pointing to all the places it goes to. To change where navigation goes to just drop/drag the little arrows on the top/bottom/left/right of the button to the desired location.

That is AWESOME!

That is exactly what I was looking for - I saw that last night but had no idea what it was used for.

Thanks for the prompt reply.

But what about "setting which button gets selected when navigating to a new menu"?

I used DVDA for ~a year before I found that. :)

to choose the default button for a menu, if it's a sub-menu (ie scene selection), select the button to the submenu from the previous menu (IE if the main DVD menu has a scene selection button, select the scene selection button to modify it's default button), then over on the right in the properties window, click "action" & then change "destination button" to whatever you want.

i tried & can't figure out how to do it with the starting menu.

"i tried & can't figure out how to do it with the starting menu"

To change the default button on the starting menu go to the project pane on the left. Right click and hold on the button you want to be the defalult button and drag it to the top of the button list and release. Now its the default button. :)
