newbie question on still pic resize

I am making a credits section. I want the names rolling by on on side and some smaller still shots on the other. I figured out the credits, but I cannot figure out how to make the jpegs not fill the screen. I played with the pan/crop but I cannot get it to resize the entire picture.

Any help /pointers would be appreciated.

For me, the trick with pan / crop is to realise you're not changing the image, you're changing the screen you view it on. Of course the screen's a fixed size, so if you make it larger, the image appears smaller to compensate.

Try putting a still on the time line and then going in to pan/crop. Move the entire box to the top left and then drag the corner back to the bottom right. Repeat the move and drag and then close the fx window. Go back into pan / crop and you should see a small version of your still inside the pan /crop box. You can now move the pan/crop box while keeping sight of your still.

I hope this helps!

Ian is correct. You have to think "opposites" in Pan/Crop. The "F"rame of P/C is the actual screening size and position. If you want the clip to move left, move the "F"rame right. If you want the clip to move right move the "F"rame left. Same for Up and Down. Same for Bigger and Smaller. Also for Rotation and for Flipping. YES - you can also flip the clip too! You can grab one of the "F"rame handles and move it across the centre and beyond - you now have a "Mirror" image of the clip AND it will show in the playing of the clip. THIS IS NOT the same as "reverse" ie backwards running video - only "mirroed". If you want reverse "play" you need to upgrade to VV3 or now V4. But, in VF you can also rotate the "playing" video and have it "spinning" on a centre OR, if you are really wishing to get your audience truly sea sick, "spin" it Off-Centre. All this is possible in VF.

There's much to explore in P/C. Do a search on this Forum for some really neat ideas.
