newbie vegas questions

I am new to home video editing and dvd burning, and I am considering Vegas 3.0. I was wondering if my equip would work ok. I have a P-4 2.2 gig, 1 gig ram, DVD-R, 120 gig WD and 80 gig WD hard drives(not raid) and firewire connnection.

I will also be attempting to digitalize all my old analog 8mm tapes by inputing them in to my Sony TRV 11 cam corder. Obviously, I haven't done this yet, and this might not work. Will this work as well as a stand alone digital converter/analog capture cards. Again my terminology in describing this might not be correct???

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Not a tech guy but your specs are more than enogh to run VV3! and you won't be disappointed with vv3 let alone v4!!
As far as the Sony TRV 11, can't say much but if it has analog/digital pass-through you should be able to use it to capture footage. Most seem to use their cams as a/d converters...
