NewBlue Chroma Key Pro vs Vegas Chroma Keyer?

KRyan wrote on 7/2/2015, 4:43 PM
I've gotten really good results with doing green screen stuff in Vegas Pro 12 just using the built-in Chroma Keyer. I just upgraded to Vegas Pro 13 and see that NewBlue V6 has "Chroma Key Pro."

Other than the more convenient garbage matte tool (wasn't that hard before with the standard crop tool), what has anyone noticed (if anything) is better about the NewBlue Chroma Key Pro for just the normal removal of the background stuff?

I did play with some of the extra stuff like creating drop shadows, the outline tool, etc. So that's obviously extra stuff. I'm just wondering if it does a better job at straight chroma key background removal and replacement stuff.

Thoughts?

Thanks.

Ken

I think it is easier to pull a good key with NB's keyer. However there are better tools. The keyer from Boris BCC is nice and I much prefer the keyer in HitFilm.

Fusion 7 is free. It has it's own keyers and it has Primatte. All of these are better than anything from Vegas, NB, Boris, etc.....

The Hitfilm chroma keyer is superb - if you have HF try them - was better than NB and on a par wit BORIS - and for getting good keys out of poorly-lit screen HF's keyer is very strong.

Boris BCC and Red are top notch for keying and light wrap. I would go with these over Hitfilm or NB.

I have to second (or third) the HitFilm chromakey. It does a nice job and is easy to use. I've also used Boris' chromakey and it does a good job, too. But, I'm finding it easier to get a good key with Hifilm.
