NewBlue Titler Pro 7 - Strange Problem

indy-p wrote on 4/3/2022, 12:23 PM

Hi,

I've been trying to use NewBlue Titler Pro 7 for the last two days and the results are not as expected. I'm at the verge of going back to legacy titles (that will take a lot longer to do to re-create the effects possible with Titler Pro 7).

Problem

  1. create a video track
  2. add an event as a NewBlue Titler Pro 7 FX to the track. This opens up its UI and workflow.
  3. create your title sequence. In my case about five sentences appear in the middle of the screen one after the other with fading and visual effects (see image 1)
  4. Then either copy the vegas event or add a new NB Titler Pro event to the same track and create the next sequence of sentences and repeat.
  5. In the copied NB event (as new source) - after doing edits to the text and effects, it impacts the previous source on the video track (see image 2).

Actions

I've tried switching 'variable' off for each text item in the NB UI. No joy. Tried adding static text instead of variable text in the NB UI. No joy.

It seems to corrupt and overwrite some of the previous sentences in my previous event in the track or the event after it.

Any ideas on how to fix this will be very welcomed.

Hi All,

I've found the issue and solution. So, hope it will help others.

Each titler clip on the video track that is created using NB Titler Pro 7 (NB TP 7) is 'linked'. Therefore, if you make a change on one, it will still try to make changes to the other title clips and titles linked on the same video track (or even a different video track).

This is irrespective if you use the vegas option to 'create an original from the source' via vegas when cutting and pasting.

The way to solve it is as follows:

  1. In NB TP 7, look at the 'Title List' option at the bottom left of its screen.
  2. Then for each of the title clips, you do not want to be linked anymore, set it to 'Unshared'. (see image)
  3. Once you set it to 'Unshared' that NB TP 7 video clip on your video track is free from changes made on another clip to titles.

By the way,

If you copy and paste NB TP 7 clip on the video which contains titles, you will need to reset all the titles in the 'Title List' to 'Unshared' again (as in the image above).

Thanks for sharing. Glad you find the solution.

Shared design template is the strength of NewBlueFX Titler Pro, where one design can be applied to other titles in the similar series, like maybe an explanations or lowerthirds.

But if all titles are totally different, then like you explain above, set the Design Sharing to other first.

All title management must be done in the Titler Pro plug-in application.

@indy-p One of the things I've found that you do not do with TP7 is to copy and paste TP7 events on the timeline. This can cause all sorts of problems that can be difficult to resolve..

@Jack S - I think I'm finding this out now...

@indy-p thanks for reporting this problem! It is a know issue that titles will always revert to "Shared" when they are copied & pasted. Unfortunately, we are not able to resolve them problem directly due to limitations of operating as a plugin.

Therefore, we did implement a workaround to prevent titles from being "shared" unintentionally. So, if you don't plan on utilizing a shared title workflow, I would recommend disabling Title Sharing entirely. You can do so by opening the Edit > Preferences dialog and un-checking the "Enable Title Sharing" box.

I hope that helps!
