Not many laptops have PC card slots anymore either.

What about the Sony Vaio laptops? Seems odd that they would drop firewire too given their mid- and higher-end camcorders still use HDV. But you never know . . . maybe the laptop people don't talk to the camera people.

The latest F series Vaio with 3D display is excellent. It comes with firewire. Display is really good, never mind the 3D ( which is impressive too ) , color reproduction is good and it's also a matte screen. Just one problem. Case is ugly and it feels cheap. If they could use last year's F series case we'd have an almost perfect laptop for $2000.

No firewire option on the Dell Alienware M18. No firewire option on any HP laptops at all. No firewire option on the NEW Toshiba Qosmio. No firewire option on the larger Lenovo. Or the Asus models.

Only Panasonic Toughbooks, I found, have a firewire (400) option.
And the Sony F series has one 4-pin IEEE 1394.
The MacBook Pro has firewire (800).

Any more?
