"News Banner" Text?

Hi, I'm using Sony Vegas Movie Studio 9 Platinum. Windows Movie Maker has a text effect called "News Banner" which basically overlays a video with a solid color bar with drop shadow in the lower left portion of the screen and static text in the bar. It takes 10 seconds to do in MM but for the life of me I can't figure out how to do this in Vegas.

You have to manually create this in Vegas.

Track 1: the text properly sized and positioned
Track 2: The solid bar behind the text (you can create this in a multitude of ways - may be easiest to just use your photo program to create the lower-third graphic.
Track 3: Background video.

JetDV's suggestions and newsletters are great... you will not go wrong following the advice there.

In general, it sounds like what you are trying to do is called "lower thirds". This might help you track down other examples and styles that you might like.
