Newsroom Background?

goodtimej wrote on 7/5/2007, 8:30 PM
I just shot a scene of two actors sitting at a nice desk giving a news report against a background. People in my movie will be watching this on TV.
Does anyone have any suggestions of what I could do for the background? I was thinking maybe a static shot of a newsroom with a video screen to the side, or, I don't know.
Does anyone have any experience with this?

Virtual sets are big business.

People in your movie are watching a tv and on that tv is a scene of two actors
behind a desk presenting the news?

There are two most commonly used scenes, a darkened control room with
a wall of monitors, and your new high tech virtual sets with a free standing plasma.

Can you give us more details, are you asking how to make sets like these?

No, more like where I can get a picture or video. I will place their video screen in myself, and I am certainly not looking for anyone to build anything.
Thanks

Go out to a local TV/cable station and ask permission to take a few pictures.
If that's not possible, google newsroom images. You'll get several hits.

If you have Photoshop or Paintshop Pro you can build images.
Places that have lots of light and bright carpet such as public libraries
are a good source for walls and floors. You composite the images and
color correct to get what you need. Go to Walmart , Sears, etc and take
photos of their display TV's for the frame.

You can buy some sets online from places such as:

EDIT: Wanted you to see this http://forums1.caligari.com/truespace/showthread.php?t=3046&page=3image[/link] from chrisj in the Caligari Forums.
He has made this entirely in 3D software.

If you can't get a shot of a newsroom, you can shoot a cityscape and put that behind your readers. (I assume you mean you have a green screen behind your newsreaders)

Here's a free background from Elite Video. Not super high quality, but if it's on a TV set and not full screen for long it may work.
