Nice to see some competition for Panasonic's somewhat underwhelming AF100 and good that Sony's realised the price/performance expectations are considerably below the F3, but no, DSLRs will be around for some time yet..
I personally love the idea or relegating my T2i to taking still photos, and not having to worry about it overheating or trying to work out a Rube Goldberg viewfinding system to provide director and client monitors while trying to pull critical focus.
Well, pretty attractive camera. And I could use my Zeiss primes. But this time I think I'll curb my enthusiasm for getting in early. The EX1 suffered a number of early bugs, none of them painful because Sony stood by their product -- otherwise would have been very painful!
"Interesting that it shoots 1080p50/60 whereas its big brother the F3 only overcranks in 720p."
I believe this is a record issue rather than a camera one. The SxS cards don't have a 1080p50/60 record format, so the F3 won't record to it internally. I've seen reports on the F3 forums that it currently will output 1080p60 through its dual link HD-SDI connectors -- but of course you then need something that can record that data stream.
