Handling of DSLR footage is greatly improved in VMS 11. Download the trial and see if it meets your needs.

Always match your project settings exactly to your media properties using the "Match Media Settings" icon. This is the most-often overlooked step.

Please provide your system specs. If your computer is not fast enough to handle the footage directly, you may need to render to an intermediate codec before editing.

Hi musicvid,

I looked into vms 11 and noticed it said something about how it supports 24fps. Could that be the problem? Maybe I need to change the frame rate on my camera in order for VMS 9 to support it. Can't afford an upgrade in software right now. I need to find a way to make it work with what I have. Thanks!

DSLRs were still relatively new when VMS 9 was released.

Your particular camera was released almost three years after VMS 9, so how could you expect your Vegas to support it?

No, the preview problems have nothing to do with your frame rate unless they are mismatched. You have not provided any system specs, media properties or project properties so I'm unwilling to guess.

If an upgrade is not an option for you at this time, I suggest you try two free intermediates, Avid DNxHD and / or the GoPro Cineform codec. Unfortunately, I know of no other solutions that will cost you no money. Best of luck.
