No 1080 25p option

I have been using Sony Movie Studio Platinum 12 for several months. Overall, it's a great, versatile NLE program but it one major flaw. And that is - there is no 1920 x 1080 25p output option which really sucks for PAL users like myself. I can output video as 1280 x 720 25p or alternatively 1080 50i.

Right at this moment, I am working on a short film which is being shot at 1080 25p and which I am going to submit to a local film festival later this year. And it would be nice to be able to render the finished product as 1920 x 1080 25p if it is selected for display on the big screen at the festival. Would anyone have a solution to my dilemma? I hope I don't have to fork out money for another NLE program just to be able to render at the resolution / frame rate that I want.

There is a 1080 25p option under some of the Blue ray settings when you render to a disk.

your custom rendering options are NOT limited to the stock templates

I have been through all the 1920 x 1080 Blu-Ray options(when saving to hard drive) and they are as follows -

24p, 50i and 60i.

I wouldn't expect there to be a 25p option there anyway because 25p is not a Blu-ray standard. But yea most of the time, I would be saving to hard drive rather than disc.

That’s what Ive heard from people who use Sony Vegas Pro – they seem to have that option available to them. Though I can’t see any way of doing custom renders in Sony Movie Studio.

Edit: Woah! I just found the option to customise my settings. Thankyou! I notice that I can easily change 1280 x 720 to 1920 x 1080. Though the default bit rate is 18mbps. I guess I should bump that up to something like 20 or 25mbps?

25p is not a Bluray option because it is not part of the current Bluray spec.

That's right. I saw that 1080 25p option under 'Sony XAVC S' and it's not for blue ray. Sorry.

Just now, I customised one of the templates to 1920 x 1080, 25p with a bitrate of 25mbps but Sony Movie Studio won't let me render the video. A message comes up that says: "An error occurred while creating this media file. The reason for the error could not be determined."

Any ideas on what's going on?

I tried a few more times and also saved the custom template as well but I still get the same message.

Did you try it at the default rate first just to see if it would work?

I do not use Movie Studio, but if there is an option for GPU rendering, turn that off.

Yea I use the default settings on this particular template on a regular basis with no problems. When I modified it, I only changed a few settings - I kept most of the default settings.
