My true wish list would have to include roto-splines, something Fetish is working on. The ability to create traveling mates and rotoscoping keys would be a super huge plus for me and probably many editors. The roto splines or bezier splines would add a huge functionality to compositing and completing projects in Vegas. If these are created- please allow the ability to "soften" the splines- so you are not locked into hard edged effects! EPM- I can get project specific if it helps!

I think you've made good points too. Certainly the more features the better. Surely nobody is opposed to that. What I worry about is if to get those fancy high-end features what does it do to the Vegas Interface, and the learning curve which is already fairly steep plus where does it push the price of Vegas? I don't think Sony will make the mistake of trying to make Vegas another Avid or FCP with a built-in snob appeal, ie look at me, I must be such a "hot" editor or videographer or whatever because look at the software I use. I look at Vegas as every man's video editor. It already has a large serious hobbist following, a good prosumer following and more so-called "pros" are trying it and are plesantly surprised in both how easy it is to use and how powerful it is. You know where I'm going... if it ain't broke, don't try to fix it. Vegas shouldn't try to be a Avid or FCP or "P" clone. Its already better in many regards because it dares to break new ground and do something differently, meainging do them better!

I totally agree that the interface should stay about the same. Maybe a little more feedbackin the main interface and a LOT more feedback in the filter dialogs. Maybe it's because I'm so used to photoshop.

I also agree that the price should stay about the same. There's a large user base that isn't making money with Vegas (including me. I provide it at work but no one is paying for it except me) and they shouldn't be squeezed out.

On the other hand, professional users can afford to pay for plug-ins. I think the "production pack" model would work pretty well with Vegas. A production pack could have all the tools to make long form easy, an enhanced capture tool that could record on the fly when a camera rolls (like a hard disk recorder), tools to make edl/omf/aaf work, batch processing...all sorts of stuff that makes a really busy shop more efficient and profitable.
