No ARM button on audio tracks.

I'm trying to record audio from an external source thru my
Sound Blaster Live ! Value sound card, but when I open a
new audio track no ARM button appears on the track. I am,
however, able to record onto the track by clicking the
RECORD button on the toolbar, but if I open a new audio
track I cant record into the new track using this
method..it just records over the previously created track.
I installed Vegas on another computer with an older ISA
sound card and everything works as it's supposed to, so
it's not a problem with Vegas. The Vegas manual says
there's a drop down menu somewhere, to select recording
devices, but I've been unable to find it, anybody know
where it is ? I'm using the custom routing option in the
audio preferences, so I'm not using the microsoft sound
mapper, whatever that is. Any input on this would be
greatly appreciated, as my grasp of the significance of
some of these configuration settings is feeble at best. I
notice that SF abstains from making sound card
recommendations openly, anybody know of issues with the SB
Live hardware ? thanks.

Don't know what operating system you are using, but you can
usually set the "preferred" recording and playback devices
by going to Control Panel|Sounds and/or Multimedia.

KAC ...

Thanks Karl, already did that and it shows the SB Live
device. Also, ignore my query about the drop down menu, it
appears when hovering over the gray box to the left of the
ARM button on my working test computer. Anybody out there
using SB Live sound cards successfully in this situation ?

Never mind. I re-installed Vegas and all is as it should be.
