No audio, can't add audio device [fixed]

Ever since I installed movie studio platinum 16.0 I don't hear any audio in the program. Nothing is muted. I found out I had to add my speakers as my output device however I can't. When I go to preferences>audio device the only option I can pick is Microsoft Sound Mapper and everything else is greyed out reading "Null Wave Mapper". How am I supposed to add my speakers and mic to actually hear audio and record audio? The help page I read said there should be an option called Windows Classic Wave Driver or ASIO to add these, but there isn't. My program is completely updated as well.

edit: Uninstalling and reinstalling has fixed the issue

Make sure your Master Bus is not muted.

If you can't see the Master Bus, select View > Windows Layouts > Default Layout.

Its not, you can see the audio waves too. As I already stated the issue is that the program will not let me connect my speakers to actually hear anything to begin with
