No Audio in Part of Video

I’m using Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 9.0. I’ve done a few videos with this software, but I’ve never seen this. I just brought a new video into Vegas. It is about 5 minutes long. I need to use the entire video. No editing. The problem is that the last 45 seconds of audio at the end of the video is missing. I’ve closed Vegas, and started from scratch 3 times, and I get the same thing all 3 times. I can play the raw video straight from the camera (Canon VIXIA HV30) in Windows Media Player, and the sound is there. Why is Vegas dropping the last 45 seconds of audio?

Re-capture the .m2t file from tape and retry. If that doesn't work, load the file on the trial version of Platinum 10 and see if that's fixed in that version of the Vegas software.

Unfortunately, I am in the habit of erasing the tape as soon as I transfer to my computer. I was forced to do a bunch of maintenance in Safe Mode (XP SP3) just to get my computer to boot up this morning. I tried editing the video again this morning, and the sound is still missing.

I just downloaded the trial version of Platinum 10 on my other computer, and all of the sound is there.

Why wouldn’t my paid version of Platinum 9 which I’ve never seen this problem with, drop the last 45 seconds of the video?

Because it has a bug. And Platinum 10 has a different set of bugs too. It's always like that, for any complex piece of software, and it will always be like that. Consumer software will never be as hardened as NASA software. That's why their price is so low considering how complex video encoding/decoding/editing is.

So if Platinum 10 does the job for you better, just upgrade to it. Trust me, you will find different bugs on it. But maybe not bugs that you might care much. So it's a give and take thing.

I have looked all around the Sony site to see if there is an option for a lower upgrade price, and can not find one. Is there one?

Also, is there any reason why one could not run 9.0 and 10.0 on the same computer at the same time?
