No audio on external monitor via firewire

Is anyone able to hear sound on external monitor? I receive video on the external monitor but NO AUDIO. I'm using vegas 4. External monitor is connected via firewire card and cable thru advc 100.

You can hear auido only through your sound card.

For external preview purposes, audio still plays on the computer speakers. When printing to tape, the audio will be on the external monitor. This is normal.
