No audio when importing mp4 files

Hello,
I'm using Sony VEGAS Movie Studio 13 Platinum through the steam client. Whenever I import and MP4 it only adds the video to the timeline — no audio. I looked for some solutions online and the most have suggested to rename this file:
D:\Program Files\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\MovieStudioPlatinum130\Movie Studio Platinum 13.0\FileIO Plug-Ins\compoundplug

When I do that Steam throws an error that it is unable to locate the QuickTime plugin and will not import the mp4. I need a newer solution it seems. If anyone can give me a work around by installing another plugin, I am happy to do that.
