no capture with jvc sr30 vhs deck

We get only a brief(1-2 seconds) of capture before video preview shuts off!
Using a good 1394 card,etc. Any settings we don't know about? The very brief video preview looks fine.

Disable deck control in the settings in the Vegas perfs, see if that fixes it.

Do you have "smart preview video" checked in Vidcap prefs? It might be deciding that your PC isn't powerful enough to preview. Check "Always Preview" and see if you have any problems.

Thanks for both of your responses. Unchecking the deck control in the capture prefs solved the problem.
