No crashes until bedtime

I've done a fair bit of editing just lately without any issues. Ok, to be honest there were a few crashes with basic editing just as there has been for as long as I can remeber.

But when I close the program it usually, but not always, throws up an error report:

Problem Description
   Application Name:    VEGAS Pro
Application Version: Version 21.0 (Build 208)
   Problem:             Unmanaged Exception (0xc0000005)
   Fault Module:        C:\Program Files\VEGAS\VEGAS Pro 21.0\vegas210.exe

Other than being annoying it doesnt seem to have a lasting effect.

Anyone else getting this or know how to stop it?

The error is kind of ubiquitous, it can be related to Windows security file scan, a borked Windows update, or corrupt file headers.

Since yours occurs when shutting down Vegas, you can try a reset, or see if it happens with other file types. The least invasive thing to try is to reset Vegas to defaults.

https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/faq-how-can-i-reset-vegas-pro-to-default-settings--104646/

I have fixed the problem a couple of times by uninstalling the most recent Windows monthly update, and letting it reinstall it overnight.

Microsoft gives instructions for running System File Checker, which is specifically mentioned for (0xc0000005) error troubleshooting.

To run System File Checker (SFC), follow these steps:

In the search box on the taskbar, type command prompt, press and hold (or right-click) Command Prompt, then select Run as administrator > Yes.

At the command prompt, type sfc /scannow (note the space between sfc and the /). Scanning will take a few minutes.

If SFC finds corrupted files and replaces them, restart your PC and check if the issue persists.

For more info about System File Checker, see Use the System File Checker tool to repair missing or corrupted system files.

I usually avoid giving such general advice, because it makes me sound like an AI Parrot, as seems to be the current trend on public forums.

Personally, I tend to agree with @Dexcon that the problem, as it is common to Vegas users, may be improved in an update.

I look forward to the new update and will be on it as soon as possible. As usual expectations are high! If this close down problem is common to other users then there's a better chance of a fix. That was my question really.
