No Device error message when trying to burn media

In all Sony Creative Software programs I have tried recently (all of which used to work), I get a "No Device" error when I try to burn any media.

Other programs like Nero 9 Burning ROM and LightScribe Labeler can identify and use the drive (LG BH08LS20) without issue, as could the Sony programs until today.

Programs tried:
Vegas Pro 9.0c 64-bit
Sound Forge Pro 10.0a
DVD Architect 5.0b
CD Architect 5.2d

Operating System: Win7 Home Premium 64 bit

The LG BluRay writer is updated to the latest firmware, 2.0.

Ideas?

I also had endless problems trying to burn media until someone on this forum suggested that that you only "prepare" the project. Then use nero to do the burning.

Thanks for the response.

Using Nero to burn a "prepared" project is okay in Vegas and DVD-A, but it doesn't do any good for SoundForge and CD-A, in which the point of the RedBook CD structuring is to burn from those programs, and there is no option to merely "prepare" the end result for later burning.

I expect Sony Creative software to recognize optical media as all my other programs do.

Any other help?

...as could the Sony programs until today.

That means that you changed something on your computer so that the drive is no longer recognized.
Did it work properly before you updated the firmware?
Do you have a Windows restore point that you can roll back to?

Mike asked, "Did it work properly before you updated the firmware?"

Answer: No. Updating the firmware was a troubleshooting step after I realized none of my Sony programs would recognize the drive, while all other programs that access the drive do recognize it.

As for restore points, I have some; however, I made no recent change to the software or hardware on the machine other than recommended "Windows Updates."

What is the best way to try to get support for these programs? I emailed Sony at the beginning of the week, but that got no answer. These forums are great, but seem to be just us users. These are by far the most expensive software programs I own; I am sure there must be some basic support for lack of essential functionality...
