No Dolby Digital Render in Vegas Pro 9 TRIAL

rtbond wrote on 5/21/2009, 10:48 AM
I am not presented with a Dolby Digital "Save As Type" when rendering a project using Vegas Pro 9, 64-bit. Is this a limitation of running the trial version?

Vegas Pro v8.1 presents this "Save As Type" option.

Thanks!

well, normally there's no mpeg or ac3 rendering/opening possible. Also, normally, if you already have a license & install a demo, it IS available in the demo. maybe it has something to do with the 64-bit version?

Do you have DVD Architect installed? Once upon a time, it was the DVD Architect installation that added AC3 encoding. I don't know if that's still true, or if the fact that you're using a trial is relevant.

I can render MPEG2 out of Vegas Pro 9 TRIAL, just not AC3.

Yes I do have DVD-A v5.

I have other issues with v9, so I am not going to sweat this one at this time.

I have the option on trial version Vegas 9 64 bit - just did a render to AC3Pro - not problems.

Most likely because you already had DVDa installed.

The AC3 licensing is held withing DVDa which is not downloadable on trial versions. On the trials you can create AC3 on the time line and play with it a little but you will not be able to save AC3.

I was just pointing out that he should be able to also as he has DVDA5 installed too according to his post.

Ahh yes... I missed that. I would agree... if he has dvda installed then it SHOULD work.

I also discovered the Dolby Digital is available with Vegas Pro 9 32-bit TRIAL, but not on my 64-bit Pro 9 installation. Strange.

I'll open a trouble ticket on this.

SCS confirmed that this is a known (but not publicly documented) limitation of the Vegas Pro 9 Trial.

This concern I have is that installing the Pro 9 Trial can make Dolby Digital unavailable in Vegas Pro 8 (apparently a licensing-related issue as Dolby Digital's availability in Vegas is dependent on the DVD-A license, and this is probably why the licensed version of Pro 9 includes a new DVD-A license <as not to impact the ability of Pro 8 to use Dolby Digital>)

The solution for me was to uninstall the Vegas Pro 9 trial to get Dolby Digital again operational in Vegas 8.1

Not seeing any problems here - trial version 9 64 bit, 8.1, 8.0c all render AC3 Pro fine.
