No Grazie!!! Don't Do It...You'll Be Sorry...

I just saw your original post and replied; however, it's about 30 messages deep. I'm not going to stop you - in fact, I'm going to push you right over the edge. Why settle for 3G when for just a "little more" you can have Red? Can you resist? I think not... I can hear those wheels turning. Now you're doomed... Hope you didn't already place your order... You'll be beside yourself... :-)

Done! - Boris this side of the pond is lots of ££££ - really . . too much. I was in the same position when I bought VideoFactory. Saw Vegas and thought nah! . . never use it . . too much money . . anyway lets see how you get on with this VF . . . well, as they say, all the rest is history. Okay, with BG3 I'm attacking the buying decision on the same basis. I've seen what it can do, I've seen what Big RED can do too . . at my present level of experise I'll be happy with the price and ther opportunity to "play" and maybe I can "seel" some of my creations . . . . time will tell.

But yes thank you very much for your concern . . . on balance I maybe selling my self short in going for a little brother of RED, but there is is another type of "balance" too . .it starts and ends with a £ . . Anways, I'm sure then as a "user" of Boris s/w I may be up for some form of ug discount - who knows?!?!

Regards,

Grazie

Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm disappointed with Boris Red spin off programs (like what you're considering Grazie) that are limited versions of the full blown product They seem to focus on one small area, fancy text effects and similar eye candy. While I didn't take a real long look, a quick review seems to suggest that's the case.

The real "meat" of the application, serious retroscoping ,layers, what's currently lacking in Vegas or the more serious tools aren't sold as a seperate lessor package, you need to go whole hog to get that and frankly in my opinion Boris Red as the full package is way over priced to go that route. Did I miss something?

Did I miss something?

1 - How would I know?

2 - Do you have any unopened Software?

3 - I'm particularly fond of "A Fool and His money are soon parted"

4 - Gullible

5 - Easily lead astray . . . .

6- Moment of madness

7 - It was the lights, the drink the attention and witty conversation . . .

8 - The pretty pictures on their site

I tell you what, it sounds like I sure have gotta a lotta "digging" to do to get what I want out of Graf3 . . . .

Best regards

Grazie

I'll probably be doing the Grafitti thing too.

Boris Red is just plain too expensive...even 20% discounted.

Vegas + DVD was less expensive.

Boris would probably make more money were they to bring their prices down and rely on *more* sales.

I've never really understood the "logic" behind pricing software out of reach of many potential customers that would otherwise buy it if it was cheaper.

As a business owner I would much rather have hundreds of new customers paying $400 or so then a few new ones ponying up $1,400.

In the long run, neither the supplier or consumer wins with such fuzzy thinking. In fact once you sell the customer, if your software is any good, a good percentage of them will upgrade again and again and because of it you'll make more money. Just ask Bill Gates. Not that Microsoft sells software cheap, but they do sell a LOT of it at modest prices and most of it is just mediocre quality.

I agree with you guys--Boris just doesn't get it--they make a nice product.

I think your totally on, unless, as some users do, you need titles only. Graffiti does titles right, and if thats all you need, Graffiti is perfect. So if you need titles, crawls, rolls.. look for Graffiti.

Anyone needing rotoscope, compositing, keying- Red is the real deal for 'everything'. So if you need a EPS Logo imported and extruded, spinning in 3D space, casting shadows, throwing highlights and then exploding.. Red is the tool you need.

You have Questions, I have answers

-------> not only are Boris Users able to get a good upgrade price, but I can give any Vegas user that purchased in the last 2 months that 'purchase price' credited towards the upgrade. So if Grazie goes to Red I can save him the $249, if with in that window.
