No more audio

dr_skipper wrote on 5/19/2003, 10:05 AM
I have been using Vegas 4 with my Digidesign Digi 001 wave driver with no problems.... untill I updated to 4.0c (I was using 4.0b). I no longer get any audio to play. If I press play, the play button becomes disengaged and I hear nothing. the preview doesn't work, either. Acid 4 works just fine on the same machine. I have done the whole uninstall/reinstall thing to no avail. I have played with the audio device setup and the changes I tried have had no effect. Any ideas? Can I download 4.0b somewhere to see if it works? Thanks.

Does the ASIO driver work?

Only one driver can be installed at a time with the digi001. Either the wav OR the ASIO.
I need the wav driver for all of the different software that I am using, so ASIO isn't an option for me. Everything was working until I installed 4.0c....
Can I go back to 4.0b? If so, What is the download link? Please help....
Editing audio is very difficult if you can't hear it.
Thanks.

You can get 4.0b here:

ftp://porker.sonicfoundry.com/

username: dude
password: sweet

Let us know if reverting helps or doesn't- we're interested. Make sure you uninstall 4.0c completely and choose yes to overwrite all when installing this earlier (4.0b) version.

Darn!
No dice...
I even tried uninstalling all of my Sonic Foundry Apps (DVD Arch, Acid, Vegas, 5.1 Plug-in pack), and just installing 4.0b.
I deleted all registry keys with Sonic Foundry in the name.
I am very puzzled. Let's go back in time:
I was happily using Acid 4.0b and Vegas 4.0b. All was well. I was using Vegas 4.0b, I left the program, I installed the 4.0c update, then no more audio. After my initial post, I noticed that DVD Architect no longer would play any audio either. Only Acid works. All of my other audio apps work as well (Pro Tools LE, Cool Edit Pro 2.0, Wavelab, Windows Media Player 9). I am on Windows XP.
Yikes!!!
Just for grins, I just downloaded Sound Forge 6, and it plays fine....

I have found Wave drivers for the Mbox and will be trying them out. Hopefull I will have some insight, assuming these drivers are similar to those used by the 001.

I will let you know what I discover.

Bump.

It seems that the Wave drivers for the Digi hardware don't like the way ACID 4.0c and Vegas 4.0c work with Wave drivers.

We are working on a fix.

Hey everybody!!!

Still feel like jumping in on the digi 001? If so I got some Motu gear to sell you as well.

**this is in response to a previous sf post on the digi 001 and MOTU dr skipper, NOT rubbing your troubles in your face. The digi 001 has been a problem with the PC daw in so many areas, it's not even funny. This is just another manifestation of a larger problem I believe. I can't believe you had zero problems with it in V3...you're in the minority there.

Let's hope SF finds a fix though.
