No MP3 Rendering Options in Vegas 20

Simon-Rundell wrote on 12/9/2022, 5:27 AM

I am sure this has been covered by many others, but searching the forum does not reveal anything.

I have just reinstalled my Vegas 20 (under the 365 Subscription) and do not have an option for MP3 Rendering, a format I use a lot. I tried inserting an MP3 into a project, sort of expecting Vegas to obtain an MP3 licence and enable it, but all it plays is noise.

MP3 files play in Windows Media Play (W11 and Legacy Versions) and VLC so I must have the MP3 codecs on the system.

What is the solution to enable it please?

MP3 isn't something that has to be enabled. If a given file won't play it may be due to its particular characteristics. Some advice on that here.

For rendering you have a video or audio file on the timeline that Vegas can play? Then you went to render as and scrolled down below Mainconcept MPEG-2 to MP3 audio? Is MP3 not there? Are filters off (upper right?)

Try the

Nope. Filters are off. Fresh install. Fully licensed product. Import MP3 and will not play in Vegas.

SOLUTION FOUND!!

On your desktop, go to the Vegas Shortcut (or Go to C:\Program Files\VEGAS\) and hold down Ctrl-Shift aand Open/Double-Click the Main Vegas .exe.

It will ask you if you want to reset preferences and clear cache - say YES and then it will include MP3 Import and Rendering

Big kudos to:

This did not work for me and Vegas Pro 21. Not only are there not export options, but if I import an MP3 file, it sounds like this when I try to play it (or any MP3): https://share.icloud.com/photos/0abx-TC5dThLXepPM2qDSEXPg

Consider making a new thread and sharing details about your hardware, media and what is going on with VP 21.

Hello my bro, I have the solution for you because I had the same problem, 1. install all the LAME .dll files. 2. You must install quicktime, and audacity, when you are in audacity export any .mp3 file. Open VEGAS pro 21, and see the magic!!!

Long shot, but is your audio file on an external drive? I recall multiple versions ago having an issue with audio files on an external drive that resolved when I moved them to C: drive.
