No recorded file after Video Capture in VV3

Have problems with PAL DV video capture. I can fully control the DV camcorder (Canon XM-2), can see and hear the signal to be captured in the preview window, but there is no file saved and a message confirming that. Would like for example to record a short 10sec. shot. I'm running Windows XP.

Yes, I read the post in this forum concerning this issue. The DV control is via Microsoft driver.

Can capture with WinXP-built-in-tool but there is no audio to be heard and recorded either in 12- or 16-bit mode. Otherway the video capture works how it should (automatic scene recognition etc.).

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Best regards, Karel

What did it turn out to be?

The video device in Option/Preferences was still in default setting which is "none". I'm new to VV and curiously a review in a magazine here in Europe stated the same problem, though the solution is so easy. Otherway why is the default set so "visely" ?
