No Render - The File name is invalid

If I open Vegas Pro 10c (64x & 32x) without assigning/saving a veg file name , add media to the timeline, and render to a file of any file type ie avi, wav... the render will post the error message "An error occurred while creating the media file. The file name is invalid.". If I name and save the project (veg file) it runs fine. Vegas 9 runs fine.

If you have saved the project as a .veg file then you've given Vegas a directory and filename to use. Vegas will then default to these when rendering. If you haven't saved the project then Vegas has no default filename to use. Are you supplying a filename at that point or are you leaving it blank?

If you don't supply a veg name Vegas will use untitled.veg and open the last directory with a veg file name of untitled.veg. If you save the veg everything is fine. If you open Vegas but do not save the veg and add a wav file to the timelime, name it what you like, and render to a mp3. Everything looks fine but the renderer will post the error that the file name is invalid. It runs fine in Vegas 9.

In the past I have run test renders on the timeline without creating a project and Vegas ran fine. I am not sure when this got introduced,

To try and duplicate the problem just open Vegas 10c, drag and drop an avi file on the timeline, select Render as and choose MC mpeg2 dvd and a file name and a save in location and select save. You should get the error message.
