No response from the Vegas Audio Forum...can someone here please answer this?

Howdy,
I'm new to using Vegas as an audio app (was always a Cakewalk/Sonar guy). Anyway since I use Vegas for video (V 3-5) I'm trying to convert totally over to Vegas for audio-only projects also.
I dusted off my analogue mixer and fed a mike into my Delta 1010 and everything seemed to be going fine until I tried to turn the freshly laid audio track down. The (imported) audio track above it works as expected but the slider and mute have no affect on the newly recorded track. For the first time I'm using the Delta ASIO drivers to take advantage of input monitoring in case that's relevant. I'll bet it's simple as usual but I can't figure it out....any ideas?
TIA,
Randy
EDIT: actually the slider does work but you can still hear it (very well) when turned all the way down or muted because the almost all of the signal is routed to bus A.
I feel like an idiot but why is sound still coming out bus A for the one track when Master is selected for both tracks?

While your main signal "out" may be designated the 'Master Out" bus, you can feed other busses as well using
the "Auxi. Send" which looks to be an assignable envelope. Type in aux in your help index.

I don't have an (any) envelope inserted though. I've used aux sends in Sonar (and basically know how to route a signal through a mixer) but I'm not understanding what's going on here. Another weird thing that happens is, the wav is sometimes not drawn on the timeline or even appears on the timeline after recording...I have to drag the file from the media pool (after saving).
BTW, surprisingly "aux send" returns no results in help.

I hate to bug again but I still haven't had any help from the audio forum or tech support and I need to get this resolved before Friday. It's gotta be a simple answer...no?
TIA,
Randy

Randy, send me a veg file, I'll see if I can find what the problem is. It sounds like you've got an envelope showing up somewhere that you can't see.

Thanks Spot, I knew you'd come through for me...it's on it's way.
Thanks again,
